• Be patient and show you are willing to listen to your client. Put your prejudices to one side and concentrate on your objectives. Empathise: put yourself in their shoes. 
• Getting back to them before the agreed deadline with the work you promised done.
• Organising occasions to meet (meetings, chats, visits, etc…) at multiple levels in order to share information and ideas.

• Explaining to and/or inform the client about the concepts you have based your decisions on, especially if differences of opinion arise. Never allowing the client to have doubts, and always ask if they would like further information or clarification.
• Recognising the errors you commit and responding rapidly with solutions to them which will satisfy you both.
• Cultivating personal relationships: visit your clients, call them or email them without it necessarily being about business; make sure you are available to give a personal touch if  there are visits to be made outside your working day, etc…
• Letting your clients know what your limitations are: what you can and can’t do.
• Studying and working on your flexibility regarding occasional extra efforts: trips, unexpected work which lengthens your working day, etc...

ASSOCIATED NEGATIVE ATTITUDES AND BEHAVIOUR

• Not answering calls or replying to mails with require an answer.
• Breaking a promise with little or no explanation and without giving the client room to react.
• Generally lacking information for the client regarding projects, specific actions, etc…
• Taking advantage of your situation of superiority to systematically impose postures and decisions.
• Not taking an interest in the impact on, or opinions of those affected by or implicated in decisions which you have taken.
